Our figures are still in the stages of development but we are gradually getting there with our makes and UKCA testing.
We had to experiment a little with the sealer we use, it's completely child safe and food grade, no nasties at all and we're trying to get this to work before we look into alternatives.
Unfortunately the first batches we made for UKCA testing all failed soak testing with 5 coats of sealer and 4 week then 6 weeks and even after 8 weeks cure time. As stain leached out from each item after this time we didn't feel these could be child safe without having the each batch of wood tested and as such a small maker with no storage this was not feasible and so it is important for the sealer to fully protect the end product.
We are now in process of waiting for a batch with 7 coats sealer to cure for 6 weeks before next testing. We've also started a batch to test a different type of sealer.
