We have got a batch through the UKCA conformity testing this consists of the Storm Kelpie, the beech Blue Man version, Capercaillie, Thistle, Redcap, Razorbill, Puffin and Guillemot.
Should really have got the physical tests done to the last makes made with the tiny land sealer consisting of Bean Nighe, Pictish Stone set, Fairy and Fairy King by now but hoping that can be done soon as these have not been made as part of the first for sale batch.
In the first for sale batch a few pieces will still need a few tests done (drop testing, soak test and flammability test) as they haven't been tested with the new sealer but this should be straightforward. This batch is currently in production having been cut out and gradually we are making our way through hand carving them. Lots and lots of work to be done so the aim of by end of the Scottish summer holidays is very realistic. Very exciting though.
To update from the last blog post, the treatex sealer performed well in the soak tests even when it was tried after just a couple of days cure time, better to leave a week though and minimal burning in the flammability tests a few just a tad sooty and could be wiped clean again. We then tried an item from the last tiny land batch at 4 weeks with the 7 coats sealer and it failed and so the decision to continue with the treatex sealer is well and truly made, it has really quickened up the process.
