Here’s our selection of painted Pictish Standing Stone wooden toys with Pictish motifs carved on one side. Painted in mottled greys with lichen greens added as if showing age like real stones with motifs inspired by those found on stones within Aberdeenshire. Introduce these historical Scottish Landscape features to childs small world play scenes to spark both imagination and an interest in the history and Landscape around them.
Currently there are 4 options available, either individually (price varies) or as a set of all 4. These Stone shapes and motifs are also available in natural beech wood in a separate listing.
Currently available (sizes are approximate each will be slightly different):
Fish motif Stone -carved fish motif inspired by one of the carvings on the Craw Stane, found in a field just on outskirts of the village of Rhynie. 12cm high by 7cm wide and 1.5cm deep £14
Beast Head motif Stone - £12 10cm tall x6.7cm wide and 1.5cm thick.
V-Rod and Crescent Symbol Stone - £10 8.3cm tall by 6.7cm wide and 1.5cm thick.
Mirror Symbol Stone - £7 7cm tall by 5.4cm wide and 1.5cm thick

All of these options are made from Lime Wood and like all our figures have been cut out then handcarved to shape before sanding, painting and sealing. This makes each piece a little unique and so will vary slightly from the product images shown. Please bear in mind you are purchasing a handcrafted product and minor manufacturing marks, carving misshaps or paint errors are not seen as flaws but as enhancing the individuality of each piece.
Our products are made and tested to be UKCA conformant for those aged 3 years and over who no longer mouth their toys. They can be gently wiped clean using a slightly damp lint free cloth and we would recommend occasional refinishing with a child safe EN71-3 certified clear wax or other sealer to further extend its protection. Do not give to a child if it becomes damaged or broken.
