Ptarmigan are small birds in the grouse family that live in the highest mountains of the Scottish Highlands with its wild tundra like landscape. They change colour from browns, greys and blacks with a white belly to completely white in the winter except for a black tip to its tail and a red patch above its eyes, this helps camourflage it into the seasonal landscape. The White Winter Ptarmigan bird figure is a great addition to winter or arctic themed play. We have a beech wood moorland Grouse or Summer Ptarmigan option also available, this has painted white feet, black beak and painted eye details with the rest left in the natural wood colour.
 
Both Measure approximately 6.5cm high and 7cm long by 1.5cm thick, the White bird is made from lime wood and the other beech wood.
 
Like all our products they are cut out, hand carved, sanded, painted and finished and therefore each item is slightly individual in character and so the item you receive will differ slightly from the product images shown. Minor wood imperfections, carving misshaping, manufacturing marks or paint errors are not seen as flaws but as enhancing the individual character of each piece, please bear in mind you are purchasing a handmade product.
 
Our toy figures are made and tested to be UKCA conformant for those aged 3 years and over who nolonger mouth their toys, this is due to the risk of small parts forming if broken and our base wood not having been tested. Our products can be cleaned by gently wiping with a damp soft lint free cloth and occasionally refinishing with a child safe clear wax or finish to further protect it.
