The Scottish Wildcat is an endangered native of the Scottish Highlands similar looking but larger than a domestic tabby cat. They have distinctive rings of black stripes to their tails which ends with a bounty bushy black tip and unlike the domestic tabby their stripes are mostly whole. These are very secretive animals and not many people have spotted one in the wild, these cats are very rare and it’s important we protect them.
We have created these Scottish Wildcat Kittens to go along side our larger standing Wildcat wooden toy figure. We have a Pouncing/Stretching kitten and a sitting option currently in our range. We felt these animals were important to bring to children’s small world play to bring awareness to our local wildlife that needs protecting, these figures work well alongside Scottish storybooks that features these cats.
Pouncing Kitten measures - 8.5cm long by 6cm tall
Sitting Kitten measures-4.2cm front to back by 6cm tall.
Each piece is individually made so these sizes are approximate, both are 2.8cm wide.
Like most of our range these figures are made of lime wood and are cut out before hand carving to shape and hand sanding, painting and sealing making each piece a little unique and so will differ slightly from the product images. Minor wood imperfections, carving misshaping, manufacturing marks and paint errors aren’t seen as flaws but as enhancing the individual nature of each piece, please bear in mind when purchasing that each one is a hand crafted product.
Our items are made and tested to be UKCA conformant for those aged 3 years and over who are no longer mouthing toys, this is due to the risk of small parts forming if broken and our base wood not having been tested. You can clean you figure by wiping gently with a soft lint free slightly damp cloth and in the future occasionally applying a child safe clear wax or other EN71-3 certified finish to help protect it further.
